Worlds Rarest Natural Color Tanzanite 29.63 Carats

Description

One 29.63 carats barion style emerald cut tanzanite, VVS2 clarity, cut grade excellent, measuring 14.6 mm wide, 18.5 mm long, 13 mm deep; with excellent polish and excellent symmetry. The proportions of the tanzanite are as follows: total depth 89.04%, table width 46.6%. Natural unheated. I have only seen this color twice in my 40 years.  It shows a full rainbow of colors with intense reds and blues.  The last one I took on a flight to G.I.A. to see Richard Liddicoat then chairman of its board of governors at the Gemological Institute of America.  He had me go to Tino Hammid then a well known photographer to try to photograph the unique character of this tanzanite for the publication “Gems and Gemology”..  He was unable to capture the beauty with 35 mm film.  At the time I had a discussion with Mr. Liddicoat who wrote “The Handbook of Gem Identification” questioning the statement that tanzanite was tri-croic showing 3 colors; blue, purple and yellow.  I felt that most had never seen a tri-croic tanzanite as they are heated removing the yellow color.  Mr Liddicoat stood by his book.  I still do not know who is correct as maybe the yellow color is only altered but it is obviously not Blue/Purple/Yellow after heating when viewed with the dichroscope.
